About Me

Hi! My name is Shanna Glawson. I am an artist, craftsman, maker, and promoter of the arts through education. I have received my degree in Professional Crafts: Silversmithing from Haywood Community College, a BFA in Sculpture at UNC Asheville, and a MFA in Studio Arts from East Tennessee State University. I primarily concentrate on working with wood, metal, and mixed media to make sculptures, installations, and community-engaged projects. Having resided in North Carolina most of my life, my artwork has been featured in local establishments such as Waterworks Visual Art Center, Art & Soul Rowan, the Folk Art Center, S. Tucker Cooke Gallery, and the Reece Museum. As an educator I strive to cultivate student growth through the exploration of art via a curriculum that incorporates creativity, observation, and discovery.

A passion for art.

On January, 27, 2023, the Department of Art & Design at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in collaboration with Vibes, The Creative Arts Incubator, hosted a free artist workshop in Salisbury, NC. The purpose of this workshop was to create greater equity within the local Arts community by ensuring that artists from all backgrounds have access to the tools necessary to successfully submit and share their work.
